Ask a Sommelier: Spiked Eggnog
Christmas is a time that is near and dear to our hearts. One of our favourite traditions has to be a big bowl of spiked eggnog. This month, we're playing the role of sommelier! The taste of eggnog is going to change with the type of alcohol you use. Here are the golden rules: 1 part booze for every 4 parts eggnog, an old fashioned glass and a stick of cinnamon - every time!
Depending on what you’re pouring, let’s see which cookie flavour you're going to need…
Milk Chocolate Chunk
A traditionalist will tell you that dark rum is the only way to spike your eggnog. Those same people will also tell you that a Milk Chocolate Chunk is the ideal way to enjoy a cookie. Dark rum melds well with creamy eggnog, taking a backseat and letting the ‘nog have all the glory. In the same way, golden cookie dough helps chunks of milk chocolate shine.
Ebony & Ivory
Ebony & Ivory is a cookie for a refined palate, the same way that cognac is for those who enjoy their eggnog a bit fancy. This is a combination for those who appreciate something more luscious. You might even like to try this pairing in a snifter.
Dark Chocolate Chunk
Whisky will make the taste of your eggnog more potent, so we need a cookie that is strong enough to keep up. Our Dark Chocolate Chunk cookie's rich chocolate notes are up to the task. This is a real man’s pairing, which is sure to put hair on your chest!
Menage À Trois
Why not include the best of all three worlds and have dark rum, cognac and whisky together in your eggnog? The result is balanced, sweet and powerful - just like our Menage À Trois cookie. Sometimes, things are just better when you invite everyone to the party.
A bag of ready-to-bake cookie dough is sure to bring the smiles at your next holiday party. Just make sure you have enough eggnog, booze and cookies for all!
